WELCOME to the Georgia Coalition Against Domestic Violence (GCADV) Training Institute where we offer comprehensive training for professionals working to end domestic violence.

Currently our courses are primarily designed for advocates working within local domestic violence centers (or shelters). However, in the coming months, we hope to expand to include other helping and service professionals responding to domestic violence. GCADV's course content is produced and designed by experts with over 50 years of combined experience working directly with survivors of domestic violence and providing training and education to a wide range of professions.

Available Courses

  • Domestic violence has an impact on many parts of a woman's life including her health. This two-part webinar will discuss the various health effects victims face and ways advocates can assist them in addressing some of the effects. Part One discusses specific ways domestic violence impacts women's health including how it can impact pregnancy. We will also discuss why it is important for advocates to know this information and how they can help improve the health care response to domestic violence in their organization and in their community.

  • Confidentiality is essential to providing effective advocacy services to survivors of domestic violence. Survivors share private information with programs and advocates when they seek services and keep that information private is central to a survivor’s safety and empowerment. Maintaining confidentiality is also an important grant requirement for programs who receive state and federal funding.

  • It can be a tough balancing act to document enough to meet funding requirements, yet to not keep information that could be used against a survivor who has accessed services. In this two part webinar, we will provide guidance and tools for safe ways to keep case notes and required information for reporting purposes while also minimizing potential risk for harm. Part One of the webinar will focus on record-keeping philosophies, statistics and funding requirements.

  • This course is the first of a six part series focusing on the intervention and prevention of HIV/AIDS for survivors of domestic violence. This training series was originally created by ENSYNC Diversified Management Services through funding by the US Department of Health and Human Services and is currently offered through a collaborative project between ENSYNC and the Georgia Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
